Customer service opened SR and sent to local office. Got letter from DHS (3 weeks back)that they researched case and are actively processing it, also if I dont get any correspondence with in 180 days contact them.
Till date I did not get any letter saying that case has opened. Will it help if I take Infopass and go to local office. Please advice.
Interesting. Talk to congressman and senator - talk to IV - IV also helps in these situations.

This states that, unlike earlier, petitions filed without initial evidence are more likely to be rejected than to be RFE-ed. (See towards end of first page).

This mail is to update you guys on the outcome of meeting with Staff Assistant of Senator Carl Levin - Michigan and members of Immigration voice namely
Gajendra Prasad
Stanley Samuel
Manoj kumar
We emphasized the following points
1. We are not talking about H1 increase.
2. Reverse Brain drain impacts.
3. Outsourcing economies gaining edge because of Americas poor legal immigration policies.
4. Delays in normal processing.
5. Impact of Backlogs on America competitiveness.
6. Impact of Backlogs on immigrations careers and their contribution to the industry.
7. Details of Presidents State of union Address for legal immigrants.
8. Statistical details which have shown immigration does not affect Americas growth but helps growth of America.
9. Requests of immigration voice.
We quoted our personal life experience and the hindrances we encounter in our career growth.
I have to say the points were observered with a positive note. and the staff said that these will be conveyed to the Senator.
He also suggested, to contact the media, which we are doing and also told,
he was also aware of immigration voice and its good doings.
He also told the Senator voted in favour of CIR 2006.
He suggested having a direct meeting with Senator would definetly help, as it would have a better impact, but he said that it would be easy to get an appointment of the Senator in DC. At this point, we have requested the immigration voice DC members whether they can have an meeting with the Senator and we can arrange the same with this staff member.
He also requested, if any of our member are meeting with the same Senator office staff in different location(Detroit, Grand Rapids,Escabana etc), please refer this staff name for continuity reasons.

I will be sending a Thank you letter soon to this Staff.

over the next over the next 75 years, new legal immigrants entering the United States will provide a net benefit of $611 billion in present value to America�s Social Security system, according to official Social Security Administration data.
Over 50 years, new legal immigrants entering the United States will provide a net benefit of $506 billion in present value to America�s Social Security system.
The 2004 Trustees Report, utilizing the intermediate projections, assumes an annual level of 800,000 legal immigrants and 200,000 emigrants (people who leave the U.S. legal immigrant population) for a net level of 600,000 per year. The Trustees Report also assumes a net level of 300,000 annually for �other immigration� (illegal immigration).
The average age for those settling here as part of this �other immigration� each year is 21 years for men and 22 years for women, which is younger than for legal immigrants. The SSA�s Chief Actuary Office analysis discussed here assumed no change in illegal immigration, though it notes that it is possible that illegal immigration could increase in response to legal immigration cutbacks, which could �partly offset� the negative effect of legal immigration reductions.
Federal Reserve Bank Chairman Alan Greenspan has pointed out the important role that immigration can play in addressing Social Security. In February 2003 testimony before the Senate Special Committee on Aging, Greenspan stated, �The aging of the population in the United States will have significant effects on our fiscal situation. In particular it makes our Social Security and Medicare programs unsustainable in the longrun, short of a major increase in immigration rates, a dramatic acceleration in productivity growth well beyond historical experience, a significant increase in the age of eligibility for benefits, or the use of general revenues to fund benefits.�
More recently, Chairman Greenspan noted the advantageous position of the United States versus the more rapidly aging populations of Europe and Japan. While between 2000 and 2030 the number of working age adults will decline in Italy (-19%), Japan (-15.8%), and Germany (-15.1%), the working age adult population will increase by 18.9% in the United States over that period due primarily to immigration. In concluding his August 27, 2004 speech at a symposium sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas, Greenspan said, �Aside from the comparatively lesser depth of required adjustment, our open labor markets should respond more easily to the changing needs and abilities of our population; our capital markets should allow for the creation and rapid adoption of new labor-saving technologies, and our open society should be receptive to immigrants. These supports should help us adjust to the inexorabilities of an aging population. Nonetheless, tough policy choices lie ahead.�

Thanks for doing this. I would suggest you to collect more data with real life stories and create a template, post it here. Then everyone can send the same to senator and white house. Anyway thanks for your work
I'm done. I posted whatever I had on WhiteHouse.gov and wrote to my Senator. I think the strength is in numbers - so the effectiveness of this depends on the number of people that write in - Even if people dont include their personal stories, just the fact that you will include your address when you write to your senator makes it personal. Just my 2 cents!!!

Hello Guys,
I am planning to utilize AC21. My PD is OCT 2005, EB2 India, I-140 was approved in June 2006 and I-485 filed on 2nd July 2007.
The question I have is if my current employer can do anything, I mean anything at all, now?

This has been mentioned earlier in various threads - it is 180 days from the receipt date, and not from filing date.
Not everyone who filed on July 2nd has the same receipt date.
Pls check your RD for when your 180 day period ends.

Preponing visa interview without very valid reason cud be harmful. u never know, if they catch ur wife telling a lie then ull be walking on thin ice.

Your most compelling argument of preponing your visa interview is that they have opened slots which were not earlier available and you would like to finish this process and keep some time incase some additional documentation was required, you would have the time to get it. Also, there is NO RULE that says you cannot prepone appointment.
Also, I suggested you get a fresh appointment at Mumbai (your original appointment was in Chennai - correct?)

I fail to see how this whole thing helps EB3-I/C. IV should work on measures that alleviate EB3-I/C pains.

Since your situation is aggravated, your wife can apply for F1 visa and come here. How you want to answer visa questions on DS-156 or date your marriage cert is upto you. But all said and done and whatever the morale police on this board have recommended is not really valid because you will be going through all of this and not these people who are giving other suggestions. I really want to ask all these people who say dont backdate marriage cert or dont get her on F1, are you guys angels and have done nothing wrong in your lives or are you just preaching others not to sin?
I think you may have missed the point. The people who were advising the OP weren't necessarily thinking of themselves as angles or as the moral(!e) police, as you politely put it. ;) They may have additional information about a similar situation and maybe trying to help him make the right decision. If you know somebody who tried to backdate a Marriage certificate and got wrongfooted by the Consulate maybe you would try and advise future applicants to be a bit more careful too. Or maybe not. Anyway, not saying that's the case here, but there maybe more to the replies than you think.

only two centers process LAbor Certs. Chicago approves in 4 days mx, but Atlanta Center approves in 4 months .... So people who applied in chicago can file their 485 but people who filed in Atlanta cannot.
Why dont u show ur frustration there ??
And legally, LS or LC or what ever or GC for that matter in these cases, is an employer based peition. And if a legal company wants to do it ......why r u guys worried .......DO NOT GENERALIZE EVERYONE. and on the top .... no one is a dharmatma here as someone said .......
