If you want OCI, there are a few hoops to jump through -
1. Apply for an Indian passport first.
2. Once the Indian passport is issued, apply for the US passport.
3. Return the Indian passport after the US passport is issued. The consulate should return the Indian passport back to you, but keep a photocopy in case they don't.
4. Now you can apply for OCI on the grounds that your son once held an Indian passport.

I would prefer OCI over PIO as mentioned in the other reply too, on PIO your child will have to register with the police station evry six months if stay is longer. OCI is valid forever while PIO is valid for 10 (or 5) years and OCI means you have all the rights but can't fight elections and vote.

merely talks of leaving- and that's free will aint it!
now individuals will discuss it based on their own experience, and fortunately or unfortunately the majority here belong to one country, it really should not offend you, although once again i repeat, i do not think it is ideal.
being so sensitive is easy here, bet you have much thicker skin at work in in your neighborhood. please show tolerance in your comments, that's all i asked. you can point out the same think politely, or gently refer to the irrelevance of the discussion which is clear anyway to most people. not a lot of contributors to the thread you may note....
oh and by the way- when threads like this are shut down, people scream free speech. everyone will dislike something when there are 10,000 people. please chill out. live and let live.
as for the plenty of people that won't come here- sounds to me like they forgot what the real problem is. just my humble opinion, but anyone that won't help with fighting this crisis because of petty trite reasons like "some threads are so country centric" would have been of no stinking use here anyway but to whine and complain. as it is barely 200-300 people bother with anything concrete.
you on the other hand friend, i happily assume are better than that.

AmitKhare77... apparently, the job title and job responsibilities have to be same as whats on labor until we get GC. otherwise no promotion.
Actually, I believe that if the promotion is a "natural progression of the job ladder", you can accept it. What you cannot do is change the job ladder completely to a different track.
Thus, say you filed labor when a software engineer, its ok to be promoted to "Senior Software Engineer. What is not ok is to change tracks to say "Product Manager" or a position as "Sales lead" etc...
Of course, i'm not a lawyer, but this is what i;ve been told by other folks and lawyers at my company.

2) Dress properly - get a haircut and dont use cooking oil instead of gel. Get rid of the moustache if you have one. Make sure you dont stink. Dressing up smartly elevates your image - remember this country is very image conscious - which I think it should be. Dressing nicely and smelling good will not hurt anybody. I agree with nixstor. I have my own template but not my personal story. It mostly highlights IV and its mission; plight of skilled legal-immigrants and in turn US' and also seek for some help from the media.
I recommend every one writing their own words rather than doing the copy/paste. If I were to recieve 10 emails with exactly the same content, it might make me feel like some ONE just sent 10 diff emails. IMHO, Its a good idea to write the gist of the story in your own words. Save it and use it for all the people in the media.

As USCIS is flexible, in approving the AP, the people don't realize the travel limitation of AP. They are travelling on AP for vatation/fun etc.. As per law, the AP is not intended for it. The CBP officer was right in asking the legitimacy of the travel. The AP document clearly says it is based on "humanitation" admission to retrun after an emergency travel.

I only came to know about USINPAC recently with this flowergate.
And i don't know about USINPAC mission or robinder.
But, if USINPAC is such a great organization, then IV and USINPAC should sit together and support each other.

Impressive to see that this thread jumped from discussing Rahman Oscar award accomplishment to terrorism.
Anyway, Rahman has come a long way from being unknown composer in his first move 'Roja' to competing in gloabl arena of Academy Awards.
It has to be a movie produced by American production house to compete in wide variety of categories. Competing from foreign country reduces the exposure.
It would be wrong to say that Rahman's talent was showcased in slumdog millionaire coz he has obvioulsy done rich material even before, but this time the timing was perfect and he was at the right time in the right place. I would like to see his doing background score for good hollywood movie. The fusion would be interesting.

I have Labor and 140 cleared under EB3 (worldwide) and waiting for 485 to file. PD is December 2005. I am software developer/engineer
I asked my company lawyer to file for EB2 since EB2 is current. This is what their response is.
"DOL has come up with what they consider to be job classifications and separated those into the job zones. There are very few which make it to zone 5 and they include such things as surgeons, lawyers, physicists and the like, in other words highly specialized positions requiring a higher than normal education path and many years experience. There are no computer related positions listed under Job Zone 5. All our positions fall under Job Zone 4 which does not lend itself to EB2 filing. We can�t file under EB2 due to DOL restrictions to minimum requirements for positions."
Is it true that computer professionals now can not file for EB2? Is there any way that EB2 can be filed? Is it not possible?
