Don't you just love couture? I always find it inspirational; it brings with it an air of the theatrical and the magical. What's more lust-worthy than something that feels ever-so-slightly out of reach? With a catwalk inspired by origami and cherry blossoms, the makeup on the Armani Prive catwalk reflected a fresh, cool and graphic look, with strong linear eyes in a beautiful apricot shade and split-sectioned up-dos. I love anything Japanese-inspired and this show was no exception.

"With the makeup we wanted to wink towards Japan, without a full-on nod to Geisha" said Linda Cantello, Georgio Armani International Makeup Artist. The base was kept deliberately matte and without blusher and bronzer. Apparently Mr. Armani was "emphatic that he didn't want any colour on the face," said Cantello. What I thought was amazing is they considered that most people see the show from the sides of the runway, so why not make the focus on the profile? Apparently Mr. Armani is obsessed by it. For the lid, Georgio Armani Maestro Eye Shadow in 5 was used. I wasn't going to go out and buy any more eye shadows for this look, so I chose some soft orange/coral shades from my collection to use; ones which I already know suit my colouring.

For a base to stop my shadow from creasing and to intensify the colour, I used a wash of Benefit'sCreaseless Cream Shadow Liner in Prenup all over the lid and slightly above the socket line. Trace the colour as far up as you want to go. On some of the models the colour was right up to the brow bone, but this can be too much for real life. I blended using my ring finger.

Next I took my favourite orange shade, Shu Uemura's Pressed Eye Shadow in ME Orange 250. This looks a lot more scary in the pan than it does on the eye. I used a fluffy blending brush (Mac's 217), which is perfect for applying and blending colour at the same time. Follow the same shape you created with the cream shadow and blend at the edges for a seamless finish.

Next comes the liner. This looks a lot more tricky than it is; practise and a steady hand will go a long way here, as will looking at the right angle. Aim your gaze slightly downwards into a mirror to allow you to get the perfect line direction and thicken the line slightly as you near the edge of your eye. I used Mac's Powerpoint Eye Pencil in Grey Utility for a slightly softer effect than the charcoal-black used the runway. Run the lines along the lower and upper lash lines; I chose to start about halfway across to focus the liner on the outer edge of the eye, but you can take it all the way along if you prefer. Follow the line of the lower lashes as it comes up and out to get the right angle.

Then take a similar coloured eye shadow to soften and blend the liner. Here I am using Mac's Eye Shadow in Knight Divine on a Jemma Kidd Double Ended Eye Define brush.

Use the larger side of the brush to soften the lines. You can also take some of the grey shadow into the outer corner of the eye and up into the socket line to create a smokier effect.

Use a white eyeliner to line the waterline; if you have problems with your eyes watering and ruining your liner before you've even started, gently place the tip of a cotton bud on the tear duct to soak up the tears before they ruin your makeup. Be careful not to poke yourself in the eye... Extend the liner to run in between the two dark lines and blend slightly so the lines are not quite so harsh. You can also 'flick' the ends of the liner with a small angled brush to get that calligraphy-like edge.

Finally add a few strokes of your favourite mascara; here I am using Jemma Kidd's Ultra Plush Volumising Mascara in Stage Black. Add a neutral pink lipgloss and there you have it; perfect couture makeup for a night out in Brighton town. I personally love this look and think it's very wearable for the right occasion.

What do I make out of this? U think once assigned to an officer thgs shud start moving? Or...even after getting assigned to an IO thgs can go bad? Has any thing of that sort also happened? Just curious so I can be prepared...

Just back from an Infopass appointment.

The lady was friendly and chked the status of my application. First she informed me that it was under review and then she told me that on Aug 3, it was assigned to an IO. I didn't ask any further questions as the news that my case has been assigned to an officer made me happy. I just wished her a good day and left.

Now, I'm beginning to wonder if I shud have asked more questions such as about Namecheck, FP etc...But I donno its with an IO and I guess I'll know the actual status shortly.

I am re-joining this and all other IV campaigns actively, now that I am back from a trip to India. I am confident that together we can provide that final much needed push.

This may not make sense in either direction. July filers are still waiting whereas my check to USCIS got encashed and it seems my ND wud be Oct 8th. My 485 reached TSC on 14th Aug but as per the Receipting Update TSC is still processing applications with RD of 13th Aug !!

There are lot of guys who filed in July still waiting for receipts..

Any idea what is the process for pre-approved cases once the priority dates is current? Specially I am wondering if a US CIS office again looks at the file upon PD being current or do these pre-approved cases are approved automatically.

I am not sure which point u did not like. For me they help every one in the line waiting for gc.
Having a tolerable time ensures that USCIS processes all the applications they receive in reasonable time. Eliminating renewals reduces lot paper work, money, time and energy. If this is considered as unacceptable I do not know what one should expect. I just wrote what I think is meaningful. If have a better idea, please feel free to comment. But stop commenting on other. That will only spoil the good spirit of the members in this thread

I am not saying that I don’t like your suggestion.. They already started issuing 2 year EAD. Where are you all these days...

What people are doing here is basically discounting the value of education. They are questioning the point of going to college at all (or to get a graduate degree), when you can just go to a trade school and learn a programming language that gets you a job. By that logic, why study history, biology, philosophy, languages, etc., if you eventually want to be in the software industry.

What people need to understand is that education gives you perspective. I don't directly use 95% of the education that I gained in many years of school, college and graduate studies. Does that mean it's worthless? I beg to differ, and so do my employers and people who work with me.

A good formal education is always desirable. I have no problem with that. What I take objection to is this entitlement mentality of some folks. A degree does not entitle a person to anything. It may help people get their foot in the door, but then on, they should be judged purely by contribution and merit. This is mostly the case in US and the reason why most Indians do well here. Contrast this to an Indian system and you see all sorts of differentiation going on. An engineering graduate thinks a commerce graduate is dirt. A commerce student thinks a history student is typically retarded. An IAS officer thinks he is GOD :D. A US degree holder (of Indian origin) thinks he should be ahead of immigration line. It goes on...
In all this, we are forgetting the actual person and attaching too much weight to an educational certificate issued by an institute/university. Education is an on going thing. It is good to have formal education, but we often forget universities are not the only sources of education and degree certificates the only credentials. Heck, even USCIS recognizes this :D.

Ladies and gents, if anyone of you have that coveted PhD from Stanford, don't jump into water yet, thinking you can walk on it :D:D

who ever file in EB2 category, they are auditing and asking too many details like, business necessity, previous employee exp if it is re filling the position, recruitment report (paper advertisement, dates, intranet advirtisement details what not)...

so as of now we can't say that they are targeting only IT people.

No one is saying that IV is ditching Eb3.Everyone(at least EB3 guys) is saying that EB3 needs special attention because it's movement is dead now.

While IV has not lobbied for any particular EB category but I think that is what they should be doing. Isn't one of IV's goals is to end retrogression ... so shouldn't EB3 be at least lobbied for since they are in such a mess ... I don't believe it sometimes that we are still in 2001.. that is 10 years back.

In a couple of years EB2 will be more or less current. So that means a guy who came two years back will file in EB2 and get his GC and I who has been working here for 12 years would still be waiting in line.

Some people say EB1 are brighter than EB2 and EB2 are brighter than EB3 . I find that funny because no one Eb1 or EB2 or EB3 is brighter than anyone unless someone has an extraordinary PHd or is a scientist . Its the lawyers who are brighter and how co-operative your company is.

Besides when we filed in EB3 categories there was no retrogression and hence no one cared or else we also would have filed in Eb2 and got our GC.

I think time has come for IV to lobby for help to EB3 people specifically since EB2 is almost done .

Having 8 post or 800 should not count for seniority. we should be able to ask ourselves how much productive contribution we have towards this forum instead of how much contribution we have to this forum. QUALITY is what that matters more than QUANTITY.

Just my thoughts.
I accept that but see how childish he/she responded. If he/she deffer from my idea, he/she can very well deliver it in a gentle way. That shows the immaturity of the person.
